A large banner for Helsingin Sanomat. The reason i put this banner in my blog was the cool 3d effect during the zoom. Those three letter boxes on the left are actually made in 3d. So they reveal more when zoomed. Click the picture watch it.

With this service you can configure a Ruukki Spaces hall. My job was to construct the 3D hall. I used PV3D for this one. Problems I had was of course with the rendering because of the z-sorting issues. Large polygons surfaces not intercepting each other but close to each other causing most of the issues. Quadrant rendering mode was too slow to use and did not solve all the issues. The solution was to use viewport layers for forced z-ordering. With viewport layers a managed keep the configurator quite fast and did not have show stopping rendering issues with the model. Check it here: http://www.ruukkispaces.com

Insert your face and drive rally with kimi.

We came across issues tracking the face picture holder matching the video by hand. With Flash CS4 I couldn’t get the result needed for the holder to transform with the video. I did it frame by frame about 5 times and it was not good enough. I asked my friend Kurre from Anima Vitae to track the shots with Nuke. He kindly exported XML document for me to use it for position holder movies. And finally it took few hours to code the final script which transformed the holders with proper tracking information.

Basically you can upload your own and comment others’ art work within this site. Most liked work will be shown in KIASMA a modern art gallery here in Helsinki. My job was to seamlessly glue together latest Facebook social plugins and flash image scrolling engine. These types of situations I call to Arttu at Vapaaradikaali and build a plan. A technical issue we had to solve was the obfuscated meta data to serve the Facebook plugin “Like”. Like works like this: You give the URL as a parameter and after submit facebook comes back and checks out what is there to like. It needs custom metadata to populate all the info. You cannot generate meta info on fly so we had to generate a ghost html-page for each artwork which URL we used to feed the “Like” plugin. It works like a charm. With Arttu we did manage push a pretty decent web site. And of course the Design credits go to Talented people at hasan & partners, Sanna, Anu and Pia.

A simple flash based web site for hasandevelopment. The reason why I decided to make this post was the text transition FX. The site itself is simple but I wanted to create something fresh for the character transitions.

I thought what kind of fun I could do with Papervision 3D. Something you could distinct from all the other alpha cross fades out there. I came up with the rotating letters. Simple but so cooool.
I have to say pixel precision issues gave me a little headache with this project. We don’t want the letters being blurry…at all

IskelmäTV

The idea was to make adjustable and flexible output content display for IskelmäTV DIGI TV. Basically it is a standalone Flash configured by few XML files and a custom content management system bundled with the broadcasting system. It uses XML defined content templates for different layouts and features. Pretty much all the essential features are configurable. We also made SMS tools and Video advertisement support for this output player.
